Description
Help your students divide a unit fraction by a whole number with this 5-Day Focus Math Intervention unit. In this unit, students begin with hands-on materials to build upon what they know about division in order to ultimately divide unit fraction by a whole number using equations. Students also work with an area model to model their thinking.
This unit uses materials such as pattern blocks and fraction bars to make these skills concrete for students and then move to representations such as area models. Students practice this skill inside of word problem contexts with a wide variety of story problems, including area contexts, throughout the unit.
Each 5-Day Focus unit includes:
- A pre- and post-assessment to measure growth
- 5 days of structured lessons that progress from concrete to representational to abstract
- Independent practice pages that reinforce each day’s learning
- Exit tickets and progress monitoring tools to track student understanding
Designed for small-group intervention or targeted classroom instruction, this unit is easy to implement and teacher-friendly. Students stay engaged through visual models, relatable contexts, and guided discovery that leads to confidence!
