Description
2nd grade is all about place value and these worksheets help to reinforce place value understanding through fun activities. These no prep activities are “a bit more than a worksheet” as your students cut, roll, spin and use hands on materials to reinforce their place value learning. The fall theme will keep things festive in your classroom!
Activities Include:
- Sorting 2 digit numbers.
- Naming 3 digit numbers given the number of hundreds, tens and ones.
- Comparing 3 digit numbers.
- Finding 10 more than a 3 digit number.
- Finding 100 more than a 3 digit number.
- Mixed practice of 10 or 100 more than a 3 digit number.
- Finding 10 less than a 3 digit number.
- Finding 100 less than a 3 digit number.
- Mixed practice of 10 or 100 less than a 3 digit number.
- Skip counting by 5s to 100.
- Skip counting by 10s from any decade number.
- Writing numbers in standard, word and expanded form.
I encourage you to think “C-R-A” while your students complete these 12 activities. Thinking C-R-A will allow you to differentiate without breaking a sweat.
- “C” stands for concrete- could your students use place value disks or base ten blocks as a manipulative while working through the activity?
- “R” stands for representative- if your students are solid using a concrete manipulative, could they draw a place value drawing or use a place value chart to show their thinking?
- “A” stands for abstract- are your students able to do these activities mentally without any support at all?
