Description
This Thanksgiving math activity will have your entire class engaged as they go on a scavenger hunt to complete 10 math problems and reveal the colors of the turkey’s feathers.
Included in the activity you will find:
- Ten 2nd grade math questions including fact families, place value, word problems, rounding, addition and subtraction.
- A recording form so students can show their work and thinking as they complete the scavenger hunt.
- A turkey form- each question has 3 potential answers, each corresponding to red, yellow or orange. As your students complete the hunt, they will solve and record the colors on their turkey form. Quickly check your students’ work as they record the colors and give them a chance to try again where they are not yet correct.
This activity can easily be set up by hanging the questions around the classroom. Allow your students to work on the scavenger hunt when they finish work early, as a math center or as a part of a Thanksgiving celebration. If you are able, you may even consider hanging the questions around the school and letting students travel in pairs or groups of 3 to solve!
